Chicken Bun

 

Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • All-purpose flour - 2 cups
  • Yeast - 1 tsp
  • Sugar - 2 tsp
  • Warm water - 1/2 cup
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Salt - 1/2 tsp

For the Filling:

  • Minced chicken - 250 g
  • Onion (finely chopped) - 1
  • Ginger (grated) - 1/2 tsp
  • Red chili powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Black pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Soy sauce - 1 tbsp
  • Cinnamon powder - a pinch
  • Garlic (minced) - 1 clove
  • Oil - 1 tbsp
  • Salt - to taste

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Dough

  1. In a bowl, mix yeast, sugar, and warm water. Let it sit for 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. Add flour, salt, and oil to the yeast mixture. Knead into a soft dough.
  3. Cover and let it rise for about 1 hour until it doubles in size.

Step 2: Make the Chicken Filling

  1. Heat oil in a pan, add chopped onion and ginger, and sauté until golden.
  2. Add minced chicken, soy sauce, chili powder, black pepper, cinnamon powder, and salt.
  3. Cook until the chicken is fully cooked and slightly dry. Set aside to cool.

Step 3: Assemble the Buns

  1. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 6-8 equal portions.
  2. Flatten each portion into a small circle and place a spoonful of the chicken filling in the center.
  3. Seal the edges and shape it into a round bun.

Step 4: Bake the Buns

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Place the buns on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Let them rest for 15 minutes.
  3. Brush the tops with a little milk or egg wash for a golden finish.
  4. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the buns turn golden brown.
