Ham Sandwich Recipe
Ingredients:
- Bread slices: 2 (white, whole wheat, or rye)
- Ham slices: 2-3 (cooked or smoked)
- Butter or mayonnaise: 2 tbsp
- Cheese slices: 1-2 (optional)
- Lettuce leaves: 1-2
- Tomato: 1 (sliced thinly)
- Mustard or Dijon mustard: 1 tsp (optional)
- Salt: To taste
- Black pepper: To taste
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Bread:
- Spread butter or mayonnaise evenly on one side of each bread slice.
- If you like mustard, spread it on top of the mayonnaise for added flavor.
2. Assemble the Sandwich:
- Place a lettuce leaf on one slice of bread.
- Add the ham slices on top of the lettuce.
- Layer with tomato slices and sprinkle a pinch of salt and black pepper.
- Place a cheese slice on top (optional).
- Cover with the second slice of bread, buttered side facing inward.
3. Serve or Toast:
- Option 1: Serve the sandwich fresh and soft.
- Option 2: Toast it in a sandwich press or skillet for a warm, crispy texture and melted cheese.
4. Serve:
Cut the sandwich in half diagonally or into smaller squares. Serve with pickles, chips, or a fresh salad on the side.
