Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • All-purpose flour - 2 cups
  • Yeast - 1 tsp
  • Sugar - 2 tsp
  • Warm water - 1/2 cup
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Salt - 1/2 tsp

For the Egg Filling:

  • Eggs (boiled) - 4
  • Onion (finely chopped) - 1 small
  • Green chilies (finely chopped) - 1-2 (optional)
  • Black pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt - to taste
  • Butter or oil - 1 tbsp

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Dough

  1. Mix yeast, sugar, and warm water in a small bowl. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, salt, and the yeast mixture. Add oil and knead into a soft, smooth dough.
  3. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until it doubles in size.

Step 2: Make the Egg Filling

  1. Heat butter or oil in a pan and sauté the chopped onion and green chilies until fragrant.
  2. Peel the boiled eggs and chop them into small pieces.
  3. Add the chopped eggs to the pan along with black pepper and salt. Mix well.
  4. Remove from heat and let the filling cool completely.

Step 3: Assemble the Buns

  1. After the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 6-8 equal portions.
  2. Flatten each portion into a small circle. Place a spoonful of the egg filling in the center.
  3. Seal the edges tightly and shape it into a round bun.

Step 4: Bake the Buns

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Place the buns on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Cover and let them rest for 15 minutes.
  3. Brush the tops with milk or egg wash for a shiny, golden finish.
  4. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the buns turn golden brown.
